Hello all, was wondering if this would be worth putting into my 3.1 firebird? and how much would it cost to have someone install this....will i notice a difference in hp along with a Dynomax catback exhaust? thxs car just hit 100,000 miles
.... also car has a cold air intake, new plugs, wires, sensors, tb was cleaned along with everything else. So engine is stock, thanks

Re: 3.1 camshaft ? and exhaust
IMO trying to build up a 2.8 or 3.1 is pointless, sure it will have more power than stock, but it will still not be fast by any means. I'm not even going to build up my 305 TPI, just keep it running good and maybe someday swap in a nice 355. If your car is running good then I would just save your money and forget the cam. The cat back will make it louder and might ad a few ponys, but that's about it. Remember that the GM MPI v6's were one of the oddest sounding v6's made or at least IMO so your not going to get even close to a v8 sound at any RPM off idle. Not trying to dog your car, just trying to help you save money.

I agree. I'm working on mine piece by piece and it is painfully slow. but stick to improvements that you can swap to another engine eventually. Or other parts of the car that are in need or repair/replacement like switches, trim pieces etc.
Anything with the engine to keep it running is good, but any modifications you make probably won't get you much "bang for your buck".
