bog and sluggish 383

hi guys im hoping someone can help me.I built a motor for my 87 camaro and am having some issues with it being sluggish and having a bit of a bog below 2800 rpm.The engine is a 383, heads are edelbroch etec 170, cam is 224 230 .501/509 110, holley stealth ram intake with 58mm throttle body and 30lbs. injectors. my stall speed is 3200 and gears are 3.73. im running stock cpu but got a chip burned by tpis for these specs. im running the timing at 8 degrees and fuel pressure at 46 psi. what would be the ideal fuel pressure for this set up and can i go higher with the timing? would either of those be my issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: bog and sluggish 383

"Bog" = usually a lean condition at throttle tip-in

"Sluggish" = usually not enough timing.

Try adjusting stuff and see what happens. Especially the timing. People put ENTIRELY too much trust in the whole "my light says the timing is ... " mindset, instead of JUST TRYING different settings to see what happens.

Whether you can get it "right" by just twiddling the dist, who knows; probably not; but it sure offers a REAL GOOD CLUE to what needs to be done.
