And since you asked that question, I have to ask this one. What are you trying to accomplish w/the Seafoam? Do you have ANY idea, what is in Seafoam? Do you know which orfice(s) you're going to pour the seafoam into? IOW...is there any science to what you're attempting to do at all?? Or are you simply looking for elixers to pour in your engine to give you a placebo pleasure?

I have heard good things about seafoam, but I have never used it. Do you know what's in it? What it accomplishes and where to pour it?

What he said. Which orifice you pour it in depends on what you think you might fix. According you the sellers, you can -and should- pour it into every hole you can find! The stuff claims to clean injectors/fuel system, combustion deposits, and oils sludge/byproducts, so they want you to BUY IT, then pour it in your throttle body, oil fill, and gas tank. And it will do what they say...to some extent. Here is the problem; you're paying for something that at best isn't as good as it could be for the task (like cleaning fuel systems), and at worst could be damaging (in the oil).

Gasoline and oil both have detergent in them. All oils do and gas, it's mandated by the Govn't. Cheap gas, expensive, low octane or high...it all has detergent in it. So if you change your oil, and you don't use 10 y/o gas, you should really ever need additives to clean those things.

If you feel the need to clean your combustion chambers, use water. It's way cheaper...works as good as anything.

Seafoam = "pale" oil (I think that is <5wt), Naptha, and Isopropyl (SP?) alcohol. It's basically a semi non-destructive concoction that smoke when you burn it so people think it's doing something.

Re: seafoam with 93oct?

Yep. It will do that. Ya spend $10 bux though to do something that a glass of water could have done just as well.

Glad it's running better though!

Re: seafoam with 93oct?

Seafoam is great stuff, for anyone that knocks it hasnt used it. At work we used it all the time to fix plugged gunked up carbs and to keep gas in good shape when storing something. Seafoam works.

Re: seafoam with 93oct?

It works, but it's not magic. It's just camp fuel, paint thinner and rubbing alcohol.

^Exactly^. Apeiron "gets it". FtrSpeedy, your work is simply paying way too much for a product it is using to cleans carbs. There are better and much cheaper ways to accomplish the same thing.

Re: seafoam with 93oct?

I remember when Seafoam cost $2.95 a can. The other 7 bucks is pure marketing. I still use it, though.

Camp fuel and paint thinner, without the alcohol, but with a hint of wintergreen for flavor.

Yea? And what's it doing for you? You know...that regular API certified oil wouldn't do (at least as well)? Hint: Nothing.

Someone should start a sticky on ELIXIRS FOR CARS, to help slow the waste of money, and the meaningless pouring of unknown substances into engines etc.

The placebo psychology is strong here.

Seafoam
Marvel Mystery Oil
Slick 50
Restore
Lucas
BG
and on and on....All products that are FANTASTIC at lightening the wallet.

Re: seafoam with 93oct?

Camp fuel (white gas, lighter fluid, lamp oil, coleman gas, stove oil) is naptha, a petroleum distillate similar to but lighter than kerosene.

When you say white gas, do you mean literally true white gasoline which is gasoline w/o additives?
