Blew out the front main, maybe? Clean off the oil, start it up and see where its coming from. Does the engine still have good oil pressure?

i think its coming from around the timing chain cover area. the oil pressure gauge says its good but im guessing the gauge is off scince its outta V6 not a V8 and i ran the car about 20 miles and it does just fine until u beat on it then it will smoke alittle bit and drip alittle oil. im going to clean the area alot better tomoro and go from there

Sounds like a front main seal, but I could be wrong. Does the smoke come out of the exhaust or is it just the oil burning off the engine and blowing back?

Sounds like a front seal to me, clean it up, make sure it has oil in it and see where the oil is coming from. Its possible to change the front seal by just removing the balancer, but its not a fun or easy job.

its gotta be burning it off the motor or header, because it does drip alittle after beating on it. so is the front seal around the timing chain cover?? i really dont wanna tear down the front of the motor to fix it scince im starting to build a 350 for it and dont wanna put any time/money into this 305

Clean all the oil off with degreaser, and watch it real close to find the leak. If it's up front, could be front seal, rocker covers, china wall.
If you don't feel like fixing it, then don't beat on it

Like was said if you don't want to fix it and you have a 350 you are working on then clean the leak area up, keep an eye on the oil level and try not to beat it too bad till the 350 is ready to go in.
