replaced injectors
I replaced my injectors in my 88 trans am, have put it back togethor but it will not start, wont even turn over. Now the car has a wire that comes off altenator and goes to the back of the motor where it splits to 2 wires. This was always connected b4 replacing injectors, now when I connect it, and then connect negative to battery my fans come on, its like I have the code reader jumped to read my codes, as when I did that in the past the fans would run when flashing the codes.
I have checked again and again, all is connected, I removed EGR and put a block plate so the egr temp sensor is now unplugged but that is it
any ideas?

Re: replaced injectors
anyone got any suggestions?
if i connect this mysterious wire and turn key to on, the dash lights go weird, the rpm gauge goes up, the dash shows im doing 100 or 10, the temp gauge goes up just really weird stuff and the one fan runs
all i did was replace the injectors and put back together now no go
perhaps a bad ground somewhere?

Re: replaced injectors
Sounds like a ground is not put back, or something is shorting. Gotta be in the area you were working, is the motor tbi, or tpi?

Re: replaced injectors
sorry the car is a 1988 trans am GTA, 305 TPI
another note, the previous owner installed the motor, it is a 86 or older as it has the perimeter vavle cover bolts
anyone have fan wiring diagram, or where is the fan relay? i tried to trace the wires but i cant pull the harness up from behind the motor as theres a few wires that come out and go back along top of tranny
I can see this mysterious wire from altenator splits to 2 black wires, the one splits again to 2 more black wires, if i connect this only to the altenator the driver fan comes on, if i disconnect and then connect to the other wire then theres a relay by the blower motor that hums
if i dont connect any of the wires and try to start my gauges are all weird, registering when car is off, when key is turned all power is lost
anyone in the London ON area that has some spare time? will pay cash for the help

Re: replaced injectors
so thought i would pass an update to my starting issue
I have managed to pull this mysterious wire from the harness, it would appear that these wires are needed as they provide power to many different things under the hood, it splits at a few points and branches off, wiper motor being one that gets its power
so it would appear my issue is a bad ground, or a short somewhere, as this would be the always hot wire, and grounding would complete circuit and allow devices to turn on, however if i ohm out my grounds they all come back as 0
could a bad injector cause a short or ground issue? anyone got a idea as to where i should look?
