85 Z28 Starts then dies
My 85 Z28 with a 350 (1987) TPI has developed a terrible problem It ran fine until about a week ago. Now when trying to start the car it fires-up, idles for a few seconds and then dies. It will occasionally run for a minute or so at about 900 RPM. Then the RPM drops to about 700, the car sputters and dies out. At this point it will not restart unless it rests for a while. I checked vacuum lines, changed plugs and wires to no avail. I think the next step would be the cap and rotor? It has a new fuel pump (PIA!).
Any info on the steps I should take to troubleshoot this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: 85 Z28 Starts then dies
See if the spark is dropping out when it dies by using an inline spark tester attached to one of the plug wires. If so, it is likely the ignition module. If spark is okay, check fuel pressure to verify that the fuel pump or control circuit isn't dropping out. If fuel pressure and spark are okay. It is likely that you have a MAF sensor or MAF power module issue. You will need to do some testing for MAF signal voltage to the ECM to verify this and what is the exact cause.
