CC of stock heads?

I'm just wondering what the cc is on a cast iron stock 305 head so I can compare it to an aftermarket one. Namely trickflows. I was told 175 would not cut it for a 350... but would they work for a 305?

Re: CC of stock heads?

Intake runner volume? Stock heads are as low as the 150s for a 350, and even the stock aluminum L98 heads were only in the low 160s. If you are planning to run EFI or carb on the street, the smaller runners are acceptable. If you are going to the track and will see much higher RPM you might want more volume, but you'll also need a lot more gear.

the combustion chamber on the trickflow 175's is 56, do you know what the cast iron heads were?

I believe stock 305 combustion chambers are nominal 58cc's.

would trickflow 175's be too big for the 305? or would it just make it breathe easier

Re: CC of stock heads?

Has anyone actually cc'd the chambers on some stock heads, I know they are all slightly different depending on casting number. 434, 416, 450, 601, etc.
