Z28 Needs Help
Hi Guys,
I have an issue with my Camaro and I am not a good enough mechanic to troubleshoot it on my own. The engine is a new GM 350 with an Edelbrock 1406 carburetor and a mild Comp XE cam. She has a rebuilt 700r4 and a stock rear end.
When I turn her on she runs great with a strong solid idle that handles rapid acceleration really well without pinging or sputtering. I can drive her around just fine and even did a few burnouts to show-off a bit. But, after about 15-20 minutes (fully warmed up), she started to get a bit rough. I take her on the road and all will be fine then it seems as though I am getting no response from the engine regardless of how much pedal I give her. A couple of times now I have had to limp back home on the highway doing 50 cause she just won’t go any faster. Another symptom is once this starts, if I get on it from a stop, it stalls the engine. This whole routine happens every time I take her out of the garage and I am not sure what is going on. My though was maybe a fuel issue; maybe too rich, but I have not been able to get out there and tinker with it.
Has anyone experienced these symptoms? Is there a step that I am missing to solve this?
I appreciate any help. Thanks.
Jesse

Sounds like fuel delivery. The fuel system can't keep the fuel bowl full.
Easy enough to troubleshoot... drive the car around until it'll just barely run any more, then WITHOUT LETTING IT SIT AND IDLE, stop it, turn it off, and pop the top of the carb off, and see how much fuel is in the bowl. I'm guessing you'll find it .... pretty low.
