Idles in park, stalls in drive? HELP!!
I have an 87 trans am 350 tpi auto. Its been sitting in a barn for four years. I installed the fuel pump, strainer, and fuel filter and its started right up (with new gas and battery). I let it warm up for 30 min and took for a test drive, it ran well for 1/4 mile then started stall out if I gave it gas, it stalled over and over agian then it started to run well for an 1/8 mile then it started stalling agian.
Today when I tryed to start the Trans am it will crank then backfire, wont start and all??? Any thoughts or ideas?
Update
Car now starts and idles in park, when up in drive the car will run untill I hit the gas then it will either stall or stumble, sometimes it run a little better for 1/4 then starts stalling. I have changed the plugs wires and Brand new MAF sensor. Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: Not starting, Backfiring?
check the resitance of the fuel injectors, they are notorius for going bad. They should be in the 16 ohm range. I would also check the timing. Timing should be 6 degrees advanced with the EST wire unplugged. Its the tan wire with a connector by the passenger side shock tower. Check the fuel pressure regulator. Pull the vacuum line off and see if there is any gas in the line. If there is, it needs replaced. Could also be a problem with the Mass airflow sensor.

Thanks, I will be checking all that today ( if it doesn't rain). I forgot to mention the fuel pump relay is new also. Is there any "good" way to clean a mass air flow sensor?

Re: Not starting, Backfiring?
Well ive cleaned out the maf sensor and got the car started. It take a little cranking to get it started. It still stalls out when driving. I got the famous paper clip out and got these codes 12 33 34 36 44
