oil

i pulled the exhaust manifolds of my 82 z28 305 to put headers on it, the heads were rebuild and new performer manifold, and cam and lifters, runs good ,plenty of power, no water in oil, or oil in water, anyway number 3 and 5 exhaust ports are coated with oil, i noticed that it will blow a little blue smoke now and again but quickly goes away, my plugs are really clean, no oil on then,, could it be a intake manifold leak? or maybe the head gasket? i torked then in sequence at 65 lbs.anyone have any ideals i,d be glad to hear them,,,jesse1957

Re: oil

Personally, I would look at your valve guide seals. They are fairly easy to change with the motor all together in the car.

Re: oil

well, i paid 400 to have them rebuilt two months ago and they replaced the valve seals, if they are leaking i,ll give them hell. i just got done putting headman headers on it about an hour ago. lucky that the exhaust shop is a half mile away,,, he said he would weld them up for me for 150,,, thanks for the advise, i might just pull the head again and take a look. jesse

Re: oil

No need to "pull the head" to do valve guide seals. All you need is a spring compressor which you can "rent" at alot of parts stores, or buy cheap if you think you might use again.

If the ones that are on there are "umbrella" type, or just the stock O-rings, get rid of them, and put on "positive" type ones. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...CGRP60011_____
