kickdown cable is not engaging
since I've bought the car in April the kick down has never once worked.
i had some other stuff fixed and told my good mechanic friend to take a look and so i came back the next day and he adjusted it and he said if it was disconnected from the tranny i would've trashed it by now i drive it a lot.
the adjustment didn't fix it and its all connected is it electronic? something with the computer? is it not going to work till i get performance computer parts?
also after it was adjusted i feel like i lost power in the high rpms and it wont break 2500 no matter how hard i try unless i'm shifting manually at a light or something. also very low power in the low rpms once it hits 2000 it kicks up but its very unresponsive to the pedal

Re: kickdown cable is not engaging
nothing electronic on your trans other then the lock up solenoid, and speed sensor. as far as controls your THROTTLE VALVE cable is a big input for these. It is not a Kick Down cable, this is not a TH350, that cable affects line pressure, shift points and so on...If it is connected to the throttle valve in the trans, and adjusted properly and you are having these issues it sounds like your going to need some internal transmission repair. Time to go talk to a decent trans shop..Or there is always the T56 swap!!!!

Re: kickdown cable is not engaging
my good mechanic friend does work for me for 25$ an hour instead of his normal 65$ im not that worried about labor cost as much as the tranny itself especially if i was to get a t56. im really hoping thats not the case id like to here some input from at least 3 more people but if their is something internally wrong definitely just swapping trans during the winter

Re: kickdown cable is not engaging
It's not a "kickdown" cable.
Go here and learn what it is, what it does, how to set it, and what goes wrong with it. www.tvmadeez.com Read the "TV101" article, all the way through, however many pages it's up to now.

man that was a lot to read, i did learn a lot though.
i'm bout to bring it back to him and tell him to skim through the article.
im deffinetly more concerned now with driving it i would like to get some "real" performance out of it its been quite aggravating.
im thinking its going to be LSS or at least i hope so.

Re: kickdown cable is not engaging
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW i've been driving this car since april 3rd and it was that easy to fix. it kicks down fine now shifts at the right points geeez my mind was blown by how easy it was i didn't even need to wait for my dad (I'm 19.)
I'm just baffled that johnny couldn't get it and he told me to get a new one guess its just not his forte.

Professional 'mechanic' can't set the TV cable on one of the most common tranny's on the planet? Wow.

Re: kickdown cable is not engaging
i adjusted the tv "way off" still no luck then out of curiosity I unpluged the sensor towards the front on the drivers side and the issue was gone shifted into gear without shuting off for the first time in 3 weeks. is this a torque convertor issue? or any ideas/ info on what that could mean??? thanks
