Engine selection
Currently have a 3.1 L engine running strong with 312k miles on it. Getting about 22-24 mpg it's a daily driver. I have 3.42 gears auto. I had 3.08 gears with drum and I got 27-28. The 3.42 gears really killed my gas mileage I feel like the 3.1 doesnt have enough power.
Should I just rebuild my 3.1
Buy a 3.4 v6 and rebuild it so it's ready to swap in?
(What's the best year)
Buy a 3.8 v6 and rebuild it so it's ready to swap in?
(best year)
Just want to plan ahead so I'm ready.

Re: Engine selection
I would 3800 swap it, but wiring would be a pain. Or just jump over to 350 world.

Re: Engine selection
I have to change way too much if I go from a v6 to the 350 l98. And it's a daily driver so I want at least 26 on the freeway.
I'm thinking about changing my 3.42 gears to 3.23 or lower?
