serpentine set up

I'm working on an 1980 corvette 350 that I'm putting into my 86 camaro. I'm slapping some go fast parts on it and I'm deleting the ac, smog, and power steering to save weight and add some ponies. Thats what t tops are for right.

Does anyone know what kind of serpentine set up I can use? Would ebay Item number: 170875874597 work? What kind of bracket would work for the altenator? Is my water pump a short or long on the camaro or does it matter. I guess I know enough to be danerous lol....

As with everything else I'm trying to do this as cheap as possible.

Re: serpentine set up

Don't delete the power steering. Car's built for power steering are HARDER to drive without it than the old manual steering cars taht are designed for manual steering. Unless you change the rack over to a manual, and that will cost more than what you want.

Any serptentine set up will work and you've got a long water pump, or should. The oly issue is that you will need to get a "reverse rotation" water pump. NOT REVERSE FLOW (those are for LT1 motors), but Reverse rotation. You can get the AC and Smog delete pulleys online. You'll also have to rewire your alternator and movet he wires because the alternator should switch sides (Serpentine is on the drivers side, v-belt is on passenger, though corvette's might be different than camaro's and firebirds. Take a serpenting set up from an 88-92 camaro/firebird. that's the one I have. Get one that has the brackets.

Also, as for "adding some ponies", you're getting maybe 3Hp by deleting the AC. I'd keep it because well, I like my AC. Yes, my firebird still has it's AC. 3, maybe 5 Hp isn't enough to justify removing it.

I also don't understand everyones rush to delete the AC. Even if you just drive it to shows, its nice to drive there in comfort. And Ozz is also right about the power steering. A car that is no fun to drive..doesn't get driven.
