86 t/a not running right
First off I'm new to this great site.
I recently bought a 86 trans am with a 355, th350 that sat for a couple of years. I know the engine has a cam no clue what brand or specs. Now comes The fun the car sort of ran when I bought it. I've rebuilt the carb Holley 4160, changed plugs and wires, did the hei up grade kit and set timing to spec 36 degrees total. The car idles great but once placed in gear dies. When I bought it would do this but the carb was flooding. I've tuned the carb steady 16 inches of vacuum idles runs 1000. For me to get the car not to stall in gear it needs 2200 idle that drops to 600 curb. My thought is it needs a stall converter the car lunges when dropped in gear. This lessens at operating temp. Any ideas? Planning on trying to get is up and running right to get it to the exhaust shop this week. Thanks
Nathan
