Speedo cable question
Speedo cable question
My 82 firebird started exhibiting strange speed readings soon after its maiden voyage, the speedo needle would jump back and forward erratically.
I figured the cable has got to be slipping so I pulled it out from the transducer (car has cruise control)
Couldn't see a great deal wrong apart from the inner cable end seems to be twisted.
Upon further research I think I have established there are different flavours in cable ends
Seems the one I have is a thread in but looks like what I should have is a straight push in with square section
How the speedo ever worked in the past is beyond me, or maybe it never did
So what I'm hoping to find out is which is the correct cable for my car? Thread in or push in
I see a replacement cable at NPD for around $25, they call this a type 1 but just want to be sure I'm getting the correct cable
Thanks in advance
Ric
