So for the past 2 weeks my throttle keeps sticking open while cruising on the streets. it only seems to happen after i get off the interstate and start driving on normal streets. i almost ran into the back of a semi last night so I need to get this fixed. this is the second time its ever happen and i have to throw it in N and give it a rev or two seems to stop it. Im going to spray some white lithlium base spray grease on the throttle wire. Anyone else has ideas on what i could do more.

 

Have you checked you throttle body shaft for movement. When the throttle shaft wears it wears into the body housing. Rochester didn't use bushings for the shaft to ride on.

So i looked this morning. Looks like the throttle body wire the part of the wire that wraps around the outside side of the throttle body is loose and i can move all the wire windings with my hand. Im sure your not suppost to do that.

 

from what I'm reading on internet forms are they have vacuum wires that are leaking. Anyone know how many vacuum lines are on a tpi throttle body?

 

Sounds like your return springs may be broken.
3 Vac lines. 2 on the pass side and one on the bottom.
