A/C leaking? Heater not blowing any air?

so after reaching the ends of the earth to find a certified dealer with R-12 i payed him to put 2 cans in, seemed to do the trick, that was about a week or 2 ago, and i noticed that my A/C is not as cold as it was, so my answer was a new belt (since the old one was really big and would bounce) after that i fired up my trans am and noticed the clutch was going on and off in 2 second intervals, i had heard some where that it should stay on longer then that a not turn on and off so frequently. so it gets me thinking that i have a leak

to add on i noticed the lines going into my compressor were loose (cause i would move them and they would hiss like a spray bottle) so after tightening them the hissing stopped, so i put i some quick metal around it for good measure and went on my merry way.
i have no idea if its leaking or not or how to tell (since it is still an R-12 system) and i don't know where go in case the hoses need to be changed

and i also noticed when i set the thermostat to HOT it docent blow air, When i set it to COLD it blows air

i am really desperate for help!

THANKS!!!!!

Finding someone who still has R12 is amazing. It's illegal to buy the stuff now so anyone that has any, bought up a bunch of stock before production stopped.

Your R12 system can easily be converted over to R134A. There are adapter fittings to change the ports over. You should replace the receiver/drier. Any oil that's in the compressor should be changed.

Since your system was empty, before spending any money recharging it, the system should be leak checked to see where it's going. It could be something simple like worn o-rings. Hoses can always be made up by a good AC shop if new ones are not available.
