Starting Problem

I have a 1990 350 tpi engine that won't start untill the battery is close to being dead. When the battery fully charged the engine cranks but won't start, as I crank and crank the battery wears down then the engine starts and runs for a couple of seconds. Is there a reason for this? Any info will help cause I'm stumped.

Re: Starting Problem

You might want too look at your injector pw correction vs battery voltage table. What .bin are you using ?

Re: Starting Problem

.bin? The thing is i'm stalling it in body that has been completely stirpped of its wiring. Luckily, when I bought the engine and tranny, I took the wire harness and computer. I wired everything up, as far as engine wise, but it won't start till the starter cranks slowly from lack of power. What should the injector voltage read?

Re: Starting Problem

use a fuel pressure gauge on the schrader valve fitting towards the rear of the passenger side fuel rail. No need to reprogram your memcal for just a header swap instructions on tuning are in the stickies.

Re: Starting Problem

It sounds like the fuel pump relay is not working. So as you crank the oil pressure finally increases and that turns the fuel pump on.

Thread moved to general tech section and welcome to TGO.
