I have an 87' Iroc with a 305 TPI..car starts right up every time without fail, drives fine, no stalling or shutting off but when I drive the car and say pull over to get gas and shut it off or for whatever reason I shut it off for a little while It won't start up...I have power, gas and all that but it won't even try to crank over..makes no noise. Almost like an electrical issue, but when it sits for 10 minutes or so it will start up again! it will start up like nothing happened! any ideas?? thanks in advance!

 

Interesting. I've got an 87 5.7 iroc with a similar problem. However, it doesn't matter if it has been run or not. Sometimes it just won't start. Once it actually cut off. No electrical whatsoever. No lights, dash, nothing. Then it will just magically fire up and run fine. Alternator is fine, battery is fine. No loose wires. It's only happened twice in a year. I'd be interested to see if anyone replies to this.

Could be Corroded battery terminals or even a broken post inside the battery. I've had that several times on cheaper batteries. Sometime it melts together and then loses connection at other times.

 

Do you have headlights when trying to start, or do they go out?

 

No Crank.. Not even a Click?

Starter Solenoid.

 

No noise what so ever...and yes I have power when I try to start it..just doesn't do anything...then 10-20 mins later It starts right up again like nothing happened.
