Exhaust sound deepened with open element

So i installed my new edelbrock 14 inch chrome air cleaner today and when I started the car after I noticed it had a deeper sound. Am I imagining this or is this actually legitimate. Btw it completely changed the look of the engine bay for the better, if you haven't already gotten an open element cleaner do it. I can feel an increase in power when I get on it from 60+ and it sounds way better!

Re: Exhaust sound deepened with open element

Sound change is normal, it's usually just that you can hear the engine sucking in the air now. It isn't actually the exhaust.
