91 trans am wont accel after intake reseal
Little background on the car. I just bought it a few months ago and the intake and water pump were leaking. So last month I decided to reseal the intake and repalce the water pump. I also put in new plugs, wires, cap, rotor and coil. Well after a month of blowing it off i finally put it all back together today. Start it up to bleed the air from the cooling system and my ses light comes on.
code 23 for the iat sensor.
I decided to go give it a drive around the block and find out it wont move when i hit the gas. Would a iat sensor cause this? I figure if the sensor is bad and showing 5v it should just make it run rich, but it should still move around at least right? I had the car running for a good 15 minutes, and it seemed to run fine. I didnt notice any misfire while idling.
Just wondering if anyone else has any ideas on this? I was hoping to enjoy a nice cruise tonight with the weather being so nice
--fixed the dtc 23. I left the sensor unplugged under the upper plenum. oops. plugged it back in and tried to drive it. i can get the car to move under light to part throttle but any heavy throttle and it bogs down real bad

the iat is a controlled vacuum leak that the ecm uses to maintain a steady idle speed.. sometimes they get gummed up and don't seal, which causes a vacuum leak, which causes the engine to run really lean, which causes it to die..
pull it out and clean it up with some carb cleaner..
i don't know if there is any kind of adjustment to it on your car or if the ecm automatically does it, but i do know that there is a procedure to adjust the one on my 84 Regal T Type...

When I had the intake apart i cleaned everything in the throttle body. It seems more like its running rich. I can smell fuel, and i have almost no throttle respones unless its light throttle.
Could timing cause this?

Sounds like your timing is off.
Also check your fuel PSI regulator vac line for raw fuel.

timing was def. the issue. was advanced all the way off the indicator. the line was showing up at about the 3 oclock position. oops.
