Okay I own an 85 Z28 305 TPI, I also have complete everything from a 91 Z28 305 TPI. I had plans to just swap trannys because when I bought the 85 I was told it was a 350. It does need some work. The 91 needs nothing period.

Also wanted the 85 running tip top before swapping to avoid issues because I have a code 33 MAF. Through diagnosing I have found I have a bad ECM.

Now heres where I really need information. The 91 I have is complete all the way from the top to bottom. Also have the ECM and entire harness from the ECM to the part where it bolts to the firewall. Will I be able to use the 91 complete system or not because of the vats? The 85 is a non vats car.

I have watched some youtube videos on how to entirely bypass the vats and am not sure if it can be done because the 85 doesnt have the vats. I am trying to have mine done in the next few weeks I have put it off far too long now.

I am swapping interior, front clip, doors, exhaust, motor and tranny. All this because I ran into a deal too good to pass up. Not to mention my 85 needs all of this done. SO any information would be greatly greatly appreciated and I will be posting before and after pics.

 

So you're wanting to disable the newer VATS to use in the older car? If so, that's not a big deal, that got figured out a dozen years ago when everyone was retrofitting L98s into older muscle cars. I don't recall what's involved, but there are plenty of companies that can help if nobody here knows. Why is this in General Engine, and again in Engine Swap? It should be asked in TPI only.
