Coolant leaking at headbolt question.

Question guys. On cylinder 8, i have coolant leaking in the headbolt area. I verified this by crawling under my IROC. I found the leaking section and its source is the bolt. Question is, does this bolt go through into the water jacket? Could that be the reason why its leaking in that area? Or do I have a blown headgasket?

Re: Coolant leaking at headbolt question.

every head bolt goes into the water jacket.. is this a fresh rebuild, or is it the original engine? it's not an unheard of thing for head bolts to loosen up on a fresh engine after a few heat cycles.. i'd pull it out, goop some teflon sealant on it, and torque it back down and see if it stops leaking. if not, then you've got other issues like a cracked head or blown head gasket....

I rebuilt it 3 years ago. Problem is that it's been leaking for about a year since I parked it. So I'm gonna get just one bolt from my uncle because I'm afraid that it may have lost its strength due to rust. Other than that I do have Teflon paste. Looks like i got a minor job to do soon.
