halloween horror story

i just changed the oil in my 88 formula 350 i used what i always use mobil 1 5w30 with a shot of lucas oil stabilizer. recently ive noticed a faint tat tat tat. coming from the bottom of.my engine. i have plenty pof oil pressure at idle. ther is no noticable loss in performance. and she starts right up every time. and i cant hear the kknock after 1500-1800 rpm. any thoughts??

Re: halloween horror story

If it's a sharp tap sound, then I'd think it wasn't a rod. They usually are lower pitched and hollow sounding. Can you record it? Flex plate noise that I've heard is sharp sounding like a hammer.

i took a long metal rod and placed it at different points on my motor and listened for sounds but it did not sound like it was coming from inside my engine. it only makes this sound after it warms up

Re: halloween horror story

Is it consistent in time with the crank or the cam (cam turns half the rpm as the crank) that could help narrow it down from valvetrain to bottom end
