THANK YOU SEARCH OPTION (after market fuel tank)
Just recieved my new spectra "Premium" gas tank with filler neck this week. And as I was searching through some old posts here today and I found out that alot of our members have had several problems with the install of this after market product. The fill neck just wont line up correctly. Sure wish I had seen this before I ordered, but its still in the unopened box, so Im shipping it back this week.
Lesson learned: Do a search before ordering and spending my hard earned coin. Atleast I didnt learn the harder way and have issues physicaly installing that junk after market tank.
Turns out I got a mom and pop radiator joint 6 blocks from my house and they would love to help me restore my original gas tank. They said between their tank cleaning service and a product called por 15 (US standard tank sealer) that I would never need to ef with the tank again..
Love this site and our members, just wish I was more patient when using the search button and ordering parts...
Think I was just mesmorized with the thought of a new gas tank.....
Someday I'll get off of the small bus

Spectre has kind of a crappy reputation. I don't use anything from them other than cheap breather caps and small dress up items.

Re: THANK YOU SEARCH OPTION (after market fuel tank)
and thats what I was finding out as well..My only choices for a new tank that I saw were either doorman or spectra..And for what i was able to find out, both are pretty much junk.
My first car was a 68 chevelle SS (396), I loved the car, but she had a rotting gas tank, it leaked, it would clog up the fuel line/carb with rust shards. This was before the internet 1984, and as hard as I looked I couldent find another suitable tank...I had that tank redone like 4 times, and still no good, longest Id get was like 3 weeks...Today things are much better that way..I cant tell you how many times that beauty (chevelle) left me stranded roadside...It was fast as hell, but broke down from the rust all the time...
Think I was just being paranoid...
