Dont have to run diesel oil. I ran syn 10w-30 and 15w-50 before in my motor. Once i add oil cooler i may go back to regular car synthetics.

Your setup i'd run a wastegate set at 6 psi for initial running and see where it gets you. If you need abit more, manual controller for 2 psi more. 6-9 should run and make for a very fun setup

Re: Turbo Set Up

I would never consider slapping a turbo on until I addressed the rearend and transmission integrity issues you're definitely going to run into.. BOTH of which will blow your budget out of the water if you thought $2K for decent cylinder heads was bad. You WILL blow one/both of them up with that kind of setup if it isn't built it handle it. That, and you're going to want a good rotating assembly in order to address the desire for power. I'm not saying it shouldn't be done (I considered a procharger for myself) but BUDGET and POWERADDER are not friendly in the same sentence together.

You're talking about an expensive build, not just something that you can throw together and watch it work. I'm not talking down to you, but it's critically important you take into account everyone else's safety and not just yours. You'll be driving this on the street (and strip) and the last thing anyone wants to see is something blowing up and sending you into the other lane of traffic at 65 MPH simply because you couldn't afford to do things properly.

I support your build, just.. be smart AND realistic about it.

Re: Turbo Set Up

I am going to adapt a new term.I is a "open book build". You acquire all the needed parts over time and add up the costs at the end of the build. No time limits....................whatever it takes.

Re: Turbo Set Up

Exactly if I did everything that I wanted I would have easily 30 to 40k in it but not many people have that money to just blow through and I already have a ford 9in rear end with 3.73 gears and if you read throw the thread you will read that I put in there that when I take out my tranny I am going to beef it up. So before you go posting **** actually read all the posts.

Part of a build is taking time. I'm not rushing anything right now because I want to build things right and good.

READ ALL OF THE POSTS! I know I can get that much out of all motor but living up in Colorado the air gets thinner the higher you go and so it's better to have a turbo to get that air

I will post all the specs when I get them. I will try and get a picture from him tonight. He is away on a trip right now but as soon as he gets back I will make sure to post pictures and specs.

You didn't say that at all. Go back and read your post again. You said "My brother and I will rebuild the motor when I pull the 305 out and he said he knew somethings that he could get from his shop to "beef" it up some more." What's that supposed to mean? Subframe connectors? Rebuilding a 7.5 and putting a girdle on it with a brace? Putting a "posi unit" in? Painting it with a toothbrush so it looks stronger? What? That doesn't tell anyone ANYTHING.

You're asking DUMB questions when it comes to doing this whole build, yet we are supposed to assume that you magically have everything else lined up correctly? I'm not anywhere NEAR qualified to call myself "experienced" with power-adders, but even I know better. GO READ A BOOK, THEN ASK. Stop being a lazy **** and actually do your homework instead of getting random opinions about a serious build that you have ZERO experience with doing.

You come in and post on here like you know everything and you're an expert with so many things, yet you're talking about doing dumbass things like pushing massive amounts of boost through a tiny-*** trim with hypereutectic pistons on stock cylinder heads and using junkass rods and still expect umteenmillion horsepower.. all while getting defensive when someone tells you something you don't like. I seriously doubt you've ever had this kind of power because you talk about it like it's no big deal.

Before you decide to make a stupid remark, at least think about things before hand... seems like you have a lot of trouble with that.

Re: Turbo Set Up

1gary- Those questions will help out any person that doesn't know to much about turbos that gets on this thread. Some of those questions help me too so no worries. Delta just thinks he is so cool and knows everything because he works in a paintball shop. He isn't worth anytime.
