It can be made to have power but for the same money invested a 350 can make the same power with more torque at a lower RPM (usually 500-700ish lower).
I'd personally not waste any money on parts that wouldn't be interchangeable between a 305 and 350 (headers, exhaust, intake, roller rockers). If you still aren't happy buy a 350 and swap those parts on (I believe the biggest difference in the TPI 305 and 350 is the injectors). If you want even more power do a small cam. Or go crazy if ya have the coin to spend and get an HSR setup, spin 6,500 RPM get aftermarket heads and make 450 horses.

I agree totally with the above statement. Only items that can be swapped over to a 350.Befor you start digging inside the engine and if its going to stay off the track and wont see sticky tires and it stays a automatic I don't see any reason to not build or most likely swap in a better rear gear ratio. with a posi. traction of some sort.(I built mine with a 3.42 ratio. and Eaton posi. with support cover).Thats the biggest bang for the buck and will show immediate results.
A nice shift kit will tighten things up with your shifts.(I simply went with a Corvette servo. and called it a day).
There are all the common bolt ons like a better flowing full exhaust.(Headers ,and then all the way out)
Here's a easy one, bump your timing a bit. I set my TBI at 4* advanced and it has made a nice difference in throttle response off the line. I did most of the above and can say that the cars allot more fun to drive.
