Replaced egr now car idles/runs terrible

1992 camaro rs 305 v8. I just replaced the egr valve now the car runs and idles terribly. I triple checked all my connections and everything seems to be in place what could be wrong??

Are you getting a check engine light? I had the same problem when I changed the egr in my 87. It seems we're better off leaving the old half clogged egr's in the car rather than replacing them. There are quite a few posts that mention this problem. Since I was getting a new chip burned for mine, I had the egr tuned out. Problem solved for me. If you are subject to inspection that won't work for you. If the old egr wasn't giving you problems, put it back on.

The replacement EGR may be the incorrect type:

The EGR solenoid may also be connected incorrectly or faulty.

I just looked at mine and the # on the original has a "N" (negative)on the end of it. It may have a number on the new one with a letter on the end indicating the type.Look at the old one and see if they match.
Here's where I retrieved some info = http://www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/sh...php?tid/258416
