carbed 350, bad idle when cold
hey everyone, i have an 84 berlinetta with a 350 and a 293 cam, and a 700r4 with a stage 3 shift kit. im having an issue after i start the car when cold. the idle is very lopey, more than usual, and does not want to rev past 1k rpm. it also seems to lack power when warmed up. the weird idle and lopeyness goes away after the car starts warming up.
it has an edelbrock 650cfm 1406 carb. 293 cam, and the rest of the engine is stock.
any suggestions? thanks

have you taken a look at the choke to see if it is working correctly?

did not help that much really. after doing all that i fired it up and when i tried to give it some throttle it choked and died and popped a flame from the carb

no idea whats happening. i adjusted the idle/air screws the right way, as well as the accelerator pump.
im stumped.. starting to think its not a gas issue or choke issue at all.
car runs fine when its warm outside or after the engine has warmed up..

Re: carbed 350, bad idle when cold
update: i went outside to the garage (while we are having a huge blizzard LOL) and messed with the timing, the previous owner put a big 293 duration cam in it and had the timing too far advanced, i did not use a timing light, but i did retard the timing until idle smoothed out and when revved it did not sputter, or hesitate at about 4k rpm. tightened the bolt, shut the car off, restarted it a few times to see how many times the engine turned over before it fired, and less than a full turn it starts right up and idles amazingly well.
if i happened to miss something and it acts up again i will update this thread.
its a stock 350, big cam, and 20k miles.
