*o2 sensor*??? Stalling Issue 87 TA 5.0 TPI 150,xxx
Okay, So I have a 87 Trans Am that has about 150,000 miles on its' BONE STOCK 5.0L TPI. I've owned this car for 3 years, and it's ALWAYS started right up, and ran well for the most part. This is a project car that is slowly coming along, little by little. Unfortunately, I'm forced to drive it all year long, through the winter. I only drive it in town, never really more then 10 miles, and never over 45 mph, and its always fine. Once in a while I'll have to make a longer drive, like 30-40 miles round trip. and speed limits are 55 mph. since I've owned this car, It has seen very little on a long trip. Almost always on these longer trips, after a long drive in 3rd or 4th gear going 55 mph, when I go to come to a stop to turn or whatever, the "service engine light" will come on, and 75% of the time, the engine will stall on me. Usually, I will just start it right back up, no light, and will continue my drive. Does anyone have an idea if this is related to a sensor or something? Seem like it only happens when I open the throttle up a little more then usual. I never beat on this car, last year a few times, it would stall in the same matter, if i would "gun it" I'd get it up to maybe 50-70 mph, and the light would eventually come on and about 50% of the time it would stall. Keep in mind when this happens, it always starts right back up, with no light, and is fine. It just sucks though, when I take this "30-40 trip" I pretty much have it down packed at what intersections it will stall. Any similar problems? Ideas? Suggestions? COULD THIS BE RELATED TO THE O2 SENSOR??? *THANKS IN ADVANCE*
I'd also like to add the only mechanical things I've did to this car so far is a basic tune-up. I added a flowmaster muffler, cut out the cat, re did brake lines, and replaced rear brake drum assemblies. Everything else I've did to the car is purely cosmetic. Thanks in advance for any responses. Long live the Third Gens.

Even if the light goes off, the trouble codes are stored in the computer for something like 50 starts after being set. So, get the codes read and go from there.
Getting the codes isn't rocket science. https://www.thirdgen.org/service-eng...ht-error-codes

I apologize. I forgot to mention the fact that using the "paperclip trick", I get the MAF code 34. I used to also get code 24 i think, whatever code indicates vehicle speed sensor error, but the last time I tried it, only code 34 came up. Those 2 are the only codes that have ever came up since I've owned the car.
