1988 V6 oil pressure problems

Hello!
My 1988 V6 Sport Coupe has just recently been put back into service and the motor had supposedly been rebuilt by my grandfather a couple years ago! However, now when i drive it the oil pressure does a wierd thing... it stays golden for the first 5 to 10 minutes then drops. It starts to just get lower at idle and then picks up again when I get on the gas but then it starts to sit at 0 on idle and barely moves until I get into 4k RPM range....I hope i dont have to rebuild.... please let me know any ideas! I know i should throw a real pressure sensor on the engine and check it out, planning to do so this weekend.

That would be the 1st starting point.
If you confirm engine oil pressure is good , consider the OP sensor faulty
If the OP is low you have other problems

Ok! If the pressure really is bad I should probably look for metal in my oil filter huh?
