iroc clunk

my 87 iroc tpi 5.0 auto.. if you drive it easy or "normal" its fine. if you go to take off fast it feels like the ***-end is gonna fly off. its like wheel hop but u dont have to spin it to do it. it feels like the rear isnt bolted. everything looks fine. shocks are weak but thats about it. all bolts are tight and bushings are intact. any ideas??

Re: iroc clunk

Mine does what you are describing. It's a loud CLUNK/THUNK if you give it any welly, or are in the process of commencing a brake stand :-)

My rear transmission mount looks tired. I bought a replacement Energy suspension mount from Advance Auto, just haven't installed it yet

Hopefully you won't experience issues with the ES as some members do. For more info:

Re: iroc clunk

Could be a bad u-joint but my money is on the tranny mount. I did a brake torque on my old RS and actually broke the bolts out of the tailshaft. It would clunk on acceleration and also if I went into reverse a little too quickly.
