MAW Suggestions..
Looking for "Might as Well" suggestions while I have the top of the engine tore apart. I have everything tore down to the intake as it stands. I am trying to rid the car of it's rough idle when it hits closed loop. I exhausted all my other options by replacing almost everything externally. Ignition system, MAF, all the sensors, TPS, ECM, O2, checked for vacuum leaks, etc. So my next goal was EGR and injectors since it could be an issue of getting hot and injector fails, or EGR not working correctly. I ordered some Bosch 3's from South Bay Saturday and they should be here in a day or 2.
I did have some lifter tap or what I thought was lifter tap before I tore the top apart. I have verified that a good portion of the push rods turn rather easily. Some are harder to turn than others, but a few spin easily. My plan was to reset those as I could be getting rough idle from valve train being too loose as it warms up. Basically It could be a number of things but at least doing this will eliminate anything from the intake up.
The block is out of an 88 GTA and I do not know the miles. I was told it had less than 100k, but it could very well have 200k. Nothing would surprise me as half the stuff I would told when I bought this turned out to be false. The engine has decent power off idle with no major noise. The only real issue was the rough idle I couldn't get rid of. I have replaced the exhaust system, removed the AIR pump, installed shorties, Y, and full stainless back. Motor seems tight but like mentioned above, I am looking for might as well suggestions that I can do since I have it tore apart this far. Hate to spend more money but I would rather do preventive now then stranded later.
Any suggestions are welcome
