What is this on my fuel pump?

Instead of a piece of rubber hose, Theres a Slip on connector block, from the Pump to the sending unit. Slid off with little effort. I didnt Like it, so i but a Piece of Fuel Injection hose on the new Bosch pump to the Sending unit with Fuel injection clamps. What is that block piece? a Fuel dampener of some sort? Should i put it back on instead of the rubber line? asking before i put it all back together. Thanks, Nick

Re: What is this on my fuel pump?

Thanks so much! I appreciate the quick response! I've done a about 100 GM Fuel pumps and ive never ran into one of these. Having it removed wont kill a Fuel pressure regulator will it? I'll find out i guess I've never had an issue with a FPR on the 90's GM's. Thanks again

Re: What is this on my fuel pump?

The purpose of it is to help dampen the sound of the fuel pump going through the steel lines causing noise. Well you know what the problems are it is a common area for a leak and loss in fuel pressure.
