Worth it to swap to Serp. belts???

I am in the process of picking up a Yellow 1987 IROC-Z28 305 TPI from a buddy. The engine has low miles about 61k and been sitting garaged since '00-01 about. I have a engine with drive belts from a 89 5.7 Iroc in the basement. Would it be worthwhile to swap over from V-belts to Serp. belts. how much of a hassle is the swap to do?

Serps are better..especially if u mod the motor and spin it up..vbelts have a tendancy to slip off.. If u go serp..then u need a reverse rotation water pump and i beleive u need to extend the wires to the alt because it will be in a diff spot..

Vbelts use less power to turn. Up to you, comes down to looks imo.

OK thanks for the replies. Makes sense just to build up the L89 on the stand then upgrade everything at once down the road.
