What can Be done to Lo5 To make it quicker?
Finally decided that being 18 and making minimum wage and going to school, i do not and will not have enough money for my vortec heads and intake as planned. Im just going to rebuild the Lo5. Its already being sent in to the machine shop to be all checked and cleaned and being bored .30 over. I have an Lt4 Cam for it already that i got from a member on here. Other than maybe a mid rise intake and porting the crappy heads, what else can be done? Double timing chain, And what else? And how much horse do you think it will have? Thanks tons

What are the specs on the cam?
Port and polish the heads. 1.94 intake. 1.6 exhaust.
If you have emissions or not, Dyno Don or Hooker 2055 shorty headers and 3" catback.
Your factory intake will be plenty for what you're looking for. No need to change that.
Port match your intake to the intake on the heads and the exhaust ports to your headers. Will help with flow.
If you're spending the money to port and polish your heads, you can also buy a set of World 305 S/R Torquer heads for about the same price if not less. They are "built" replacement 305 heads.
What gears do you have? Changing to a 3.42 or 3.73 will give you good off the line power.
You can also custom tune your computer, that may help some as well.
In the end, your HP numbers will directly reflect how much you put into it but this will give you a good start on the power numbers.

There is always a way to do more...but you really don't want 4.11's in a street car, they're just a little steep. Now, if it's primarily a track car, occasional street use car, then I could see the benefit of 4.11's.
