Yet another starting problem
So, I tend to realize that there are a lot of cant get the car to start posts on this board ....but none of them seemed to match whats going on.
So 89 F-bird V-6 2.8l.
The lock cylinder on the car went out back in November of last year. It is stuck in the "ON" position. Due to the fact that i am on workmans comp i havent had the money to get it looked at. I not completly car savy enough to try and tackle it myslef. So needless to say ive been trying to keep things going by disconnecting the Battery when im not running my car.
So went to head to work this monday. Connected the battery went to go start up the car, and it would crank, but the engine simply would not catch. I have been having idle problems in the past figured the fuel pump might have gone out.
Did some research from other posts on this site and heard people talking about the VATS system, wouldnt think anything of it. But locked my keys in the car on friday, and AAA triggered the alarm getting into my car. Thanks to the lock cylinder and not being to turn off the car, i simply disconeected the ground to the alarm to get precious silence. but not really able to turn that off, still was able to make a nice sunday drive however.(Also in said research found out my key wasnt an original and previous owner cut a key and put the gm plastic sheath over it <grumble>)
Figure their is alot of variables envolved and just getting bvack from workmans comp dont have alot of money to dump on it. Ran out of daylight to check the fuel injectors and plugs...But figured id post and try to get a more informed answer on the situation.
Thanks

Re: Yet another starting problem
actually yes.
Fuel pump had indeed gone out but had some wiring issues as well, traced the short in the line found out there is a fuse for the fuel pump on the left side just to the left of the evap canister ..got that replaced runs like a champ.
