Oddball Question: Orientation of Sock on Fuel pump
Somehow I forgot to note the direction of the fuel pump sock when I pulled the pump out of the tank to install the walbro. The walbro's sock is one-sided like an L, while the original stock was more like a "T".
So, because of the way the tank sits it didn't make sense to install it with the sock orientated 90* perpendicular to the Sender's float, and I think I remember pulling it out with the stock orientated parallel to the sender float.
I installed it with the sock facing away from the sender, but parallel.
I know, stupid question. And I should have noted it when pulling the fuel pump out, but I apparently forgot.
Was a long job. By myself, hand tools, laying on crappy, rocky driveway. No help to be found. 6 hours. But I also removed the axle entirely for the swap because I have a bunch of UMI stuff to go onto the car.

Re: Oddball Question: Orientation of Sock on Fuel pump
After reading all the fuel pump heat issue threads I believe if you have the L style sock it should be pointing away from the return line. The idea behind it is not to get hot return line fuel to go right back into the feed. That is how I installed mine and have had no issues.
