Transmission?

Hey guys I have an automatic 1992 Camaro RS. It has a V8 in it. So let me tell you whats happening. I was driving it the other day and I was driving it up a hill, it wouldn't shift into a lower gear and took forever to get to the top of the hill once at the top of the hill it stalled. I started it again and made my way home. Driving down a hill or in a flat area it would maintain speed but to get it to shift I have to take my foot off the gas and then immediately put my foot on the gas again. I can then feel it shift. When I got into the driveway it staled again. It wouldn't start. I let it sit for 10 minutes and then it started again. Other then that time it starts up fine. It also idles fine when its in park when I put it in Drive and keep the brake compressed it wants to jolt forward. Would this be the transmission or a fuel pump? Thanks

Re: Transmission?

Kinda sounds like the torque converter is staying locked up. But that would only act funny at very low speeds or idling in gear. Make sure your tv cable isn't broken, this is a cable that hooks on the throttle arm of the tbi unit, unhook off the stud & pull it, it should feel springy.

Re: Transmission?

Yeah, it could be a bad torque converter lock up solenoid, or the throttle valve cable needs to be adjusted.

Re: Transmission?
