Broken rocker stud

A friend of mine called me earlier and told me he had a rocker stud break on his 350. I was wondering if anybody knew any tricks for pulling and reinstalling a stud w/o pulling the head? Is this possible?

Re: Broken rocker stud

Cobalt drill and an easy out but you really have to be careful about where the chips go.

I have done things like this without pulling it apart but I recommend pulling it apart. You get chips in the motor you know what happens. If you don't pull it make sure you have rags and what ever blocking the chips. Also a vacuum to help control them.

Yea I know about chips. I was thinking rags around it maybe a couple of small magnets and a shop vac to keep them under control. Are you telling me to drill it out or drill into it and pull it w something? These are press in studs. What should we do about pressing a new one in?
