84 Berlinetta Timing Issue
I have an 84 Berlinetta with a factory 305. I need to check the timing and cannot find the EST connector. I have checked the conduits around the A/C condensor and it is nowhere to be found. I have been having trouble with it losing power after a cold start. Once it warms up it drives ok. When cool it will not go up a hill and bogs trying to accellerate. I have replaced the carb with a rebuilt Rochester Quad.
I guess it could be the module, not really sure. New to this issue. The car ran fine with the old carb, however it was very rich. That is why I changed the carb.
The car has no mods.

Re: 84 Berlinetta Timing Issue
The choke pulls off as it should. Not sure how to adjust that. It does the same thing even if it is warm enough for the choke to not be on. After driveing it for about five mins it mostly stops. It does have a slight hesitation when taking off from a stop as well, and if you floor it to pass, it will lose power too like it is flooding. Then it will take off like it should. Has me baffled.
Also, I can back off the idle screw all the way and the car still idles at about 700 RPM warm. Even in 100 degree weather.

Original carb had throttle position sensor? Distributor has computer controled advance?
If that is so and the new carb does not have these hookups, you need to change the distributor to a vac advance

Re: 84 Berlinetta Timing Issue
I used a direct replacement carb. It has all the same sensors and vac hookups as the one I removed, that was the original carb.

Idle not dropping below 700 with the screw all the way out makes me think again the choke is staying at least partially engaged if there are no vacuum leaks. Got me scratching my head
