rising over flow
recently my over flow has been rising and yup, I'v been watching the oil at the same time and it still looks like normal ran oil. I have changed the stat and the rad cap from NAPA and the temp has maintained safe levels.
a few weeks ago the temp did rise above 230 and I had no heat when I left the house and I turned around and parked it after that till I changed the stat and cap.
think im pushing out a head gasket?

Re: rising over flow
Two things are likely. The system still hasn't bur it's self and still has air in it or if your seeing a steady stream of bubbles in the rad after the stat has opened,it's either a blown head gasket or cracked head.Because you had it as hot as you say,the second is more likely.

Re: rising over flow
After I shut it off it bubbles up in the overflow for a few secs and then stops. I'll push the water back into the rad from the tank and it fills it back up.
If its popped it's no no biggie, I'm building a 383 and this will allow me to yank the motor and prep for the new setup.
