1986 Iroc z Code 46

Ok so I just finished doing a engine swap from a 305 to a 350.
I replaced the Injectors, ESC, Knock sensor and Prom.
The issue I am having now is that my car won't start, and I am getting a code 46 (VATS). Now as far as I know 86 Iroc's didn't have vats, however, the Prom I got is from a 88, is this why I'm getting a code 46? And if so is there any way around it or do I need to get the Prom re programed?

The car will crank and sputter for a sec. There is spark and good fuel pressure and if I spry starter fluid it will run till the fluid is gone.

Any help or comments appreciated.

I will have to check. Is that one of the numbers you can see through the top of the chip?

Those are the ones, late 88 and 89 contain vats as well as 86-89 vetts. You can have it reprogramed or buy a bypass module thats send a hz signal to the ecm to enable the injectors.

You will not have anything in b6 of the ecm

Thanks for the link. I'm a little confused as to which part of it applies to me.

Re: 1986 Iroc z Code 46

This would be one way to bypass it.

Ah I see. So I could plug one of these into B6 on my ECM?

Re: 1986 Iroc z Code 46

Yes, you can send the 30hz signal to b6 of your ecm but you will need to go to the junk yard and un pin a connecter to slide into b6. Your only to options would be this bypass or have the memcal reprogramed.

Re: 1986 Iroc z Code 46

I think it would be easier to get the memcal reprogramed than try and bypass the VATS.
