Fuel line and filter replacement

I have a 92 RS, 5.0 TPI and I need to replace all the old fuel lines from the fuel rails back to the tank. I did some searching on rickscamaro.com but they have a few different options and I'm not sure what to buy.

Also, I have been having some issues with my engine losing power under throttle, which leads me to believe there is a problem with fuel delivery. Someone I spoke with mentioned a filter in or on the fuel pump, has anyone ever heard of this or know where I can get one?

Any help in getting my car back on the road would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Fuel line and filter replacement

Did you mean TBI? or did someone put TPI on your car?
Get a factory service manual from Helm INC.
Also check your fuel PSI if ok, ohm check your TPI injs if they are stock.

Re: Fuel line and filter replacement

There is a fuel strainer mounted to the bottom of the electric pumps in the tank (TBI or TPI). Tank removal is the usual way to access the pump, but you may as well replace the pump and sender if you are going to dig that deep anyway. TTOP350 mentioned checking the pressure. That is a good idea to verify the hesitation issue under load. Ohm'ing out the injectors is a great check too before thinking about the pump.

Re: Fuel line and filter replacement

Thanks everyone for your help. The car came from the factory as TBI and was converted by the previous owner. Is there any difference in the fuel delivery from TBI to TPI?

I will check the pump and most likely replace it anyway

Re: Fuel line and filter replacement

TBI has a lower pressure delivered to the engine via the pump, than TPI. Although if the car has been running I wouldn't think that would be the issue. As RonUsmc stated though the inline filter would be a more logical check first. It's inside the frame on the drivers side underneath the rear seats -ish.

Re: Fuel line and filter replacement

Yes, big difference. Check the PSI, if low, change the filter. If still low its the pump.

Re: Fuel line and filter replacement

Since the car is up on the jacks and I'm tearing into it, I'm going to replace all the old fuel and vapor lines. I have already purchased the fuel lines for the sending side, can anyone help me find the fuel vapor lines and return fuel lines? I have found some on the following link but it refers to the lines as RH and LH and they all look the same so I'm not sure what to buy. Any help would be appreciated.
