Ls1 springs installed on a SBC head

This gona work? its a LS1 valve spring and retainer and the SBC Keeper... The valve stim sure does stick out alot more then with the LT1 springs i previously had on it.



btw its on a 84 corvette head.

think its ls7 springs? search on here. its there. those dont look right. lol

You need a retainer like the Comp # 787-16 retainer

that allows a LSX beehive spring to be used on any reg SBC 11/32" SBC valve stem ( with SBC locks )

As said above, the stock retainer and locks are different. From my memory the last time I was working on a later model head they are a metric size and have rounded locating grooves in the locks. Make sure to use the comp stuff as said above. Unlike what you have there, it will stay put and not fly off at some unexpected time. Also make sure to measure your installed height and adjust as needed with offset locks. The standard locks may not put the installed height where it should be, which is something like 1.80" or so.

Yup ls1 has 8mm stem while sbc is mostly 11/32" which is bigger. Ls1 retainer will not fit a sbc keeper. Need the beehive retainer for sbc size valves which comp and others like pac springs sell
