TBI vs Vortec short block?
Are the vortec short blocks (crank rods pistons) any better than a roller tbi short block? I'm looking fpr a short block to freshen up, change the rod bolts, bolt a set of trick flow 195s on it and spin the motor to 6300 rpm with a 230/236 duration cam.

I'm talking about the rotating assembly in each. I've been told the vortec motors have shorter piston skirts and powdered rods, read mix things about tbi motors having powdered rods too though. Just trying to get the best stock parts without having to buy new internals and pay to have it balanced.

Sorry I guess I misread the question. I think you'd be fine with either. Nothing mechanical is gonna last forever. But I think you should put a set of forged pistons in it.
