need suggestions on carbed 305 build
Alright before I get strarted, I'm not going the 350 or 383 route, im sticking to the 305, I've read a few articles with great info, but no exactly what I need, I have a bone stock knocking 305 with 416 heads, I was planning on exchanging my 305 for a fresh 30 over 305 with flat top pistons...I want to use my 416 heads, they will be ported and polished..what can would be best with this combo? And should I do anything about the stock valves? I'm not trying to make a drag car, this car will be driven almost everyday, just trying to make a 305 that doesn't disappoint.

So, carbed, not TPI.
Are you rebuilding the knocking engine, or finding a different shortblock? What's most important is whether it'll have roller lifters or not. Once we know that, we can talk cam specifics.
For a daily driver that has a little more umph, the stock valves will be fine. Plan on new valve springs to match whatever cam you end up getting.

non-roller, i'm sending the knocking engine in it off as a core charge and getting a long block built.
