Head gasket change and no spark

So I really need some help on this one. I have a 1985 2.8L v6 camaro. I replaced my headgasket and now I am having some issues. When I plug a spark plug into the ignition coil and crank the engine I get no spark. The starter is still working and the fuel pump and injectors are working too. I can smell gas on the plugs after cranking. I have gotten a new ignition coil, pickup coil, ignition control modual. I have the four grounds on the drivers side grounded to the cylinder head and the one on the passenger's side is too. I looked for any damage to the wires and found none. Any ideas about something I missed or did wrong? It had spark before the head gasket change. After the change I tried to crank the engine over with the original ignition parts and that did not work so I decided to replace them and it still has not worked.

Make sure the distributor is fully seated, is the rotor turning? Make sure everything is plugged in.
At the coil, test the leads for voltage (use a test light) one side should be a constant 12v & the other should be flashing as crank it.

Re: Head gasket change and no spark

Yes the roater is turning and it is seated. I have put it to top dead center on the compression stroke and set the distributor to the number one spark plug many times in trouble shooting different things. I am in the middle of nowhere and don't have access to anything but a multimeyer. But I put a spark plug in the ignition coils which should show if its getting spark and they are not. Plus the original coil before the head gasket swap was about 3 weeks old and the new one is about 1 day old. I don't think they both went bad. I am pretty sure its a ground or a damaged wire.

Axle/Gears: Stock? Lol
Do the same thing then. Check voltage at the coil. One should be constant 12 one flashing back and forth

Check for voltage going in to the coil.

Re: Head gasket change and no spark

Sorry for the late reply but I got someone to come out and look at it. It seems that the ignition coil is not getting the proper pulses from the pick-up coil. When I took the distributor apart I did not realize the pin in the gear at the bottom was hollow. I thought it was like a cauder pin thing like on the wheels of a car. And I popped the magnetic thing off the top instead of the gear off the bottom. So now the magnetic thing will not stay on it just slides off. So now I am going to be going to a junk yard and getting a distributor and putting it on. What I think happened is that once I had the car apart moister got into the pickup coil of the distributor and it caused it to no longer work. So when I got the car put back together it no longer started. And I broke my distributor so when I got the new pickup coil that is probably why it is not working now.
