Hello Fellow Third Gen Owners. New to the site. Have a Lil problem with my newly inherited '91 Camaro Z28. It has 79,458 miles on it Pulled car cover off and she started. But a lil miss. decided to get stale gas out. filled with good fuel, and she wouldn't start. tested fuel pressure and was good. no spark. Relpaced ICM and ignition coil. found out that it was pick up coil. so now she ran. just that lil miss. The car is originally my uncles. only owner and said there is a miss or hesitation. so bought a can of 3m injector cleaner and side taped it in fuel rail. but had trouble with cutting off fuel pump. relay was out and one of the injectors fuses inside car and still ran. finally cut INLINE fuse. taped can and tried to start. wouldn't so uncle hooked inline fuse back up and started car. after five mins shut car off, removed can. let car sit for 15 mins. started it back up and now runs HORRIBLE!!! Over Pressurized System? FPR killed? Injectors? Thanks for your time and response.

 

You need to drain the fuel rails & maybe pull the spark plugs, they might be wet. Some of that cleaner stuff doesn't burn too well. I like the otc stuff, you can mix in alittle gas to help it run better, I like to clean them when the engine is hot.

 

So you Dont think I damaged the FPR or Injectors? So just add high grade fuel?

 

You really have to be careful with those injector cleaners. They sometimes work, however it can also make matters worse. Depending on the condition of your fuel system and injectors, the cleaners push the dirt and debris through the lines and ultimately the dirt winds up in the injectors.

So I didn't over pressurize system? Did brakes suspension and ignition. Gonna send injectors out. Should I cleann throttle body and upper intake while at it?

 

N the injector cleaner is mixed with fuel?!?!

 

If these are the original multecs you will have nothing but trouble with them. Save your self a headace and get some bosch 3's from southbay just my

Ok. Today fired her up sounded great. When she got warm sounded horrible. Got her almost to empty. Put 5 gallons of 91 in her. Still same problem. Hit the throttle and she wants to die. I don't get it. Opinions?

 

Check the impedance of your injectors. Get a voltmeter out after the car warms up. I bet you will have an injector (or more) that has low resistance. If I remember off the top of my head it should be in the 13-14ish range...(don't shoot me, I may be off by a little) If they are rotten, they will read REALLY LOW like 1.2, 3.7, 4.2 etc. If you have a bad one, save all your trouble and ditch the lot and go to SOUTHBAY injectors. Those people are AWESOME. The instructions on installing them come in the box, and you can call or email them if you have any questions. They are an A1 company.

 

Just a thought, check for a clogged cat.

Well finally got time to test injectors. And they are all outta wack!!! Pulled a plug or two in low injectors, WET. Bought a set of injectors from SOUTH BAY INJECTORS n jus ordered a FPR from them. Can't wait to get her on the road. Thanks Third Geners!!!
