High idle and other questions

I recently replaced my Lingenfelter tb with a new one. I did what's mentioned in the tech section. Aldl pins top two far right? turn the key on an the ses light flashes. I waited the 30 seconds. And unplugged the iac. I then removed the clip an started the car an still had a high idle 1,300 rpms or so. I shut off the car an now it went to 1,500 rpm an isnt the car supposed to barely idle with the iac disconnected? Am I doing something wrong?

I also heard that a bad egr can cause high idle? But I have Vortecs so doesnt that make the egr not a concern? or does it still use the egr valve an it just has the vette style to the header.

I have not ran the car in a year an before the throttle body removal I think I still had high idle problems.

I have not yet set the tps. And from experience I never heard the tps causing high idle but before the tb swap it was set to factory an still had the high idle an had the same problems.

When I last smogged I didnt pass an had high HC. But was told I killed my brand new dual cats with 110 octane 5 gallons. Is that possible that fast? Does a bad egr cause high HC?

I have checked for leaks an I have not found any.
Im going to later this evening an retry the Iac an see if it's doing anything. Seems like it isnt even working. It looks real clean but how ever it is old.

I used to be better tinkering with the car but I have not done any of this stuff in years an my memory of how to do everything has vanished.

If the egr is in need of replacing thats going to be fun removing the Super Ram plenum.
So ya highly modified car here. Where is this Bug! Chips good..

Re: High idle and other questions

It always seems when these cars have a high idle it's less rare that it's some vacuum leaks. All my vacuum lines an everything is in good condition as I replaced them all when the engine was built. So it always seems to be a part in these matters. So if nobody has any ideas after I do another vacuum line throttle body cleaner test an dont find anything I guess I'll either fix the problem with the Iac by replacing it. But like I mentioned before the iac connector removed should stumble the idle an it doesnt do that. Maybe the car needs to relearn the idle by driving, but I cant do that now because my steering is taken off for replacement.
